Maidstone United manager Peter Nott has called on his players to show more desire if they are to avoid relegation.
Stone sit four points above the Ryman Premier League's relegation zone after Saturday's 3-0 defeat at Dartford.
Nott, who succeeded joint bosses Alan Walker and Lloyd Hume on 9 February, told BBC Radio Kent: "We have the quality to get out of trouble.
"But we also need more fight and more desire. We have enough experience and that's important."
Maidstone had started brightly against the Ryman Premier runaway leaders, but found themselves 2-0 down at half-time.
Nott, who has been with the club for eight years having worked previously as reserve team manager, admitted that Stones' game plan had failed.
He explained: "Our game plan was to get in Dartford's faces from the start. We didn't want to let them settle.
"So I was disappointed when we found ourselves playing second best around the pitch. I think we're going to need a major re-think.
"Most of all, we need a settled side because time is not on our side and players are going to have to earn their money."
