Brian Smikle took his Kidderminster Harriers tally to 13 for the season
Cambridge United's 10-match unbeaten run came to an end thanks to Brian Smikle's first-half goal at Aggborough.
Top scorer Smikle's strike came after 18 minutes when he beat the offside flag to slot into the bottom corner after being set up by Darryl Knights.
Harriers had chances to extend their lead, Smikle and Martin Riley both denied by visiting keeper Simon Brown.
Cambridge's best chances came after the break but Lee Phillips missed close in and Danny Crow headed against the bar.
Lloyd Kerry could have doubled Kidderminster's advantage late on but keeper Brown again came to Cambridge's rescue.
It was a deserved first win in eight games for Steve Burr's beaten FA Trophy semi-finalists.
Kidderminster manager Steve Burr told BBC Hereford and Worcester:
"We changed it about a bit tonight and it has been difficult lately with bringing lads in.
"But I am one for changing it to get things back to how they were.
"I think tonight showed what we are about given how we passed the ball well, especially in the first half.
"I am just pleased that we got through it and in the end it was a great victory for us."
Martin Ling told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire:
"We were lucky to get nil to be honest. We were outfought.
"Our keeper Simon Brown was our best player, which sums it up but the rest were not good enough.
"It was not up the standards that we've set for ourselves. Maybe there was a little bit of tiredness. This is the ninth game we've had in March.
"Their goal was a definite offside and the linesman missed it but we didn't deserve anything tonight. Sometimes you get those, sometimes you don't and there's no point griping over it."
