Striker Matthew Tubbs' first-half header earned struggling Salisbury a priceless win against Kidderminster.
Tubbs, now out on his own as the Blue Square Premier's top scorer, steered home from 12 yards on 24 minutes for his 26th goal of the campaign.
Harriers had earlier wasted a golden chance to take the lead when Martin Riley headed over from six yards.
But, after Tubbs' goal, City had the better of it, Ross Atkins having to save Chris Shephard's 25-yard volley.
Salisbury's timely victory, which ended a run of four straight defeats, lifts them three points clear of trouble.
Harriers, who had new signings Luke Prosser and Lloyd Kerry making their debuts, have now gone seven games without a win.
Kidderminster Harriers boss Steve Burr told BBC Hereford & Worcester:
"You could see the confidence going out of the team once we conceded.
"We need to start scoring goals because we look a bit shaky at the back.
"Without scoring we're not going to give ourselves much of a chance."
Salisbury manager Tommy Widdrington told BBC Wiltshire:

"We showed a tremendous amount of bottle, I'm delighted.
"Save from the first five minutes, I thought the back line was excellent.
"Stewie Anderson and Jake Reid deserve an unbelievable pat on the back for making themselves available."
