Chris Denham's late goal was his seventh goal of the season
An injury-time goal by Altrincham forward Chris Denham denied promotion-chasing Rushden & Diamonds a deserved victory at Moss Lane.
Diamonds fell behind against the run of play when Shaun Densmore's off-target shot deflected in via Kurt Robinson.
But the visitors drew level when Max Porter's cross-cum-shot was headed into his own net by Greg Young.
Paul Terry's deflected strike from the edge of the box put Diamonds back in front before Denham's lobbed equaliser.
Lee Tomlin tormented the home side's defence all afternoon and he produced the first genuine chance of the game when he drew a fingertip save from Stuart Coburn on 25 minutes.
Minutes later, Jefferson Louis sent the ball thundering into the side netting after peeling off the home side's defence.
Altrincham took the lead on 34 minutes thanks to a lucky deflection but four minutes later the visitors got their own lucky break when Porter's speculative effort was headed past Coburn by the unfortunate Young.
Craig Farrell again went close for Diamonds with a free-kick on the stroke of half-time.
Diamonds picked up where they left off after the break as Farrell shot just wide and then shortly after he headed onto the bar when he latched onto a Tomlin cross.
Louis squandered a number of chances but Justin Edinburgh's men took the lead on 73 minutes when Terry's shot from the edge of the area took a deflection off Michael Welch.
However Denham nipped in to break the visitors' hearts with a deft chip with just one minute of added time remaining.
