Cambridge United boosted their survival chances with a battling win at Barrow.
Josh Coulson headed a Simon Russell cross over the bar for the visitors in one of the few chances for either side in a lacklustre first half.
Cambridge took the lead midway through the second period when Russell set up Scott Neilson who fired home from inside the six-yard box.
The home side were reduced to 10 men late on when Carlos Logan picked up his second yellow card of the match.
