Durham City suffer six-goal Matlock Town thrashing

Durham City suffered their 23rd straight league defeat with a 6-0 reverse at Matlock Town in the Unibond Premier on Saturday.

Matlock's Ross Hannah grabbed two of the goals as City conceded their 119th goal in just 24 games.

Durham also had Gareth Ayres sent off for two bookable offences.

The result followed news that City were docked six points by the Football Association on Friday for fielding an ineligible player.

Manager Lee Collings, who was banned from any contact with the club for a period of 15 games, played the suspended Josh Home-Jackson for two Durham matches in October, including a 7-1 drubbing by Bradford Park.

Home-Jackson has also been banned from playing for the club for the same period.

The Citizens, currently stranded at the foot of the Unibond Premier having lost every league game this season, are being managed by assistant boss Dickie Ord until the end of the campaign.

Stocksbridge are the next visitors to the Arnott Stadium on Tuesday.
