Mansfield Town defender Luke Jones scored his first two goals for the club to set the Stags on course for a 4-0 thumping of bottom club Chester City.
City, who face the threat of being wound up in the High Court on Wednesday over an unpaid tax debt, were buried inside little more than half an hour.
Jones scored twice with headers before teenage namesake Ben Jones turned Ryan Williams' corner into his own net.
And Jake Speight struck from the edge of the box to wrap up the points.
Mansfield's win keeps up their play-off push, moving them up to fourth in the Blue Square Premier.
The hosts dominated the opening exchanges against Chester's skeleton side and were finally rewarded when Jones got ahead of his marker to head home Williams' inswinging corner.
He then headed a second after the visitors failed to deal with another Williams corner.
The visitors' woes were further increased when young Chester striker Jones inadvertently fired the ball into his own net.
And the Stags finally wrapped up the party when Speight fired home a left-foot shot to extend City's alarming run without a win to 10 games stretching back to 10 November.
Doomed Chester now go into Wednesday's court date in London 27 points adrift of safety - with 19 games left.
But, prior to that, they have once again been ordered to attend a meeting with the Football Conference to outline their immediate plans.
