Oxford United were left frustrated by the late postponement of their home game against Rushden & Diamonds.
After a crowd of more than 10,000 were expected, U's boss Chris Wilder told BBC Oxford: "This game should have been played, no doubt about it.
Chairman Kelvin Thomas added: "This is one of the frustrations of not owning the stadium.
"This was a game we were all looking forward to and for it not to go ahead is shocking to say the least."
Thomas added: "We were in dialogue with the stadium company and ground staff, since before the bad weather last week about the importance of the game,"
"At the end of the day the pitch was not ready as appropriate."
A rearranged date for the game to be played has yet to be decided.
