Midson has scored six goals this season following his move from Histon

Jack Midson scored the only goal as a weakened Oxford beat Hayes & Yeading to reach the FA Trophy second round.

The striker made the difference in the first half, heading home Simon Clist's cross at the near post after good work from Alfie Potter down the left.

But the former Histon man saw a second-half penalty hit the woodwork.

The attendance at the Kassam Stadium for the tie was only 1,663 - roughly one third of Oxford's average crowds in home Blue Square Premier games.
