Forest Green picked up their first league win in eight matches with a 1-0 triumph over Rushden & Diamonds.

Mark Preece headed his third goal of the season to lift the home side up a place to 22nd in the Blue Square Premier, five points adrift of safety.

Max Porter, Paul Terry, Aaron O'Connor, Jefferson Louis and Lee Tomlin were denied by Rovers keeper Terry Burton.

The hosts had chances of their own, going closest through Craig Rocastle's 30-yard strike.
