Barrow twice fought back from a goal behind to deny strugglers Grays their first away league win of the season.
Grays took the lead when Petar Rnkovic latched onto a pass from Harry Agumbar and fired past keeper Stuart Tomlinson.
Jason Walker levelled the score with a header just four minutes later but Ryan James put the visitors back in front after the break with a 20-yard shot.
Craig Nelthorpe secured Barrow's point with a left-footed free-kick after a foul on Carlos Logan by Billy Crowther.
Grays Athletic manager Julian Dicks told BBC Essex:
"First half I thought we defended magnificently, it's obviously hard when you're against the wind.
"Second half I thought we'd go on to win it, but I suppose a point is a good result.
"Hopefully, we can kick-on, that's what it's all about."
