Welling United celebrated confirming Jamie Day as their new manager by beating Worcester City 1-0.
Day was initially appointed on Wednesday but compensation was only agreed for him to leave Dartford on Friday night.
Jack Parkinson scored the only goal on 55 minutes.
Day said: "I wasn't sure if I would be playing for Dartford or managing Welling. But I'm ready for the challenge."
Lee Protheroe picked the team and had expressed an interest in the job. He told BBC Radio Kent he is fully behind Day's appointment.
He said: "I'm not that disappointed [I didn't get the job]. I want to still play but Jamie's in charge now. Different things happen. But I think there's a good base here. The boys are eager and willing to prove him.
"Jamie said to me it wouldn't be fair for him to come in and pick the team straight away. We knew what the team would be, it sort of picked itself after the win over Lewes.
"I was very pleased with the result. I thought we dominated the game, played some nice football and deserved to win 1-0."
Dover are now five points behind Conference South leaders Newport County after losing to the Welsh side 2-1.
Shaun Welford equalised for Dover on the hour mark before Newport scored the winner on 72 minutes.
Dover manager Andy Hessenthaler said: "I thought our performance was terrific. Newport came for a point and they got the three but they didn't deserve it. But you've got to give them credit for defending well."
Margate conceded a late goal at Hastings to spoil Mark Butler's first game in charge of Margate.
Folkestone Invicta are still second in Ryman South after James Everitt scored twice in a 2-1 win at Corinthian Casuals, Andy Constable netted a hat-trick in Thamesmead's 5-1 win at Cheshunt that puts them second in Ryman North, and Faversham Town extended their lead at the top of the Kent league to ten points with a 3-0 win over Herne Bay.
