Former Bristol Rovers and Bath City midfielder Lewis Hogg says he has no regrets about dropping out of full-time professional football.
The 27-year-old once captained Rovers as a teenager and made 74 appearances for them before being released in 2003.
That year he dropped down to the Blue Square South, first with Weston-super-Mare, and then on to Bath City in 2006.
"That's the way it's gone and you just move on and change to how things have changed, Hogg told BBC Points West.
"It's only when you see what people have gone on and done you think 'that could have been me'.
"But I've not no regrets about the way it's gone."
Bath City travel to struggling League Two side Grimsby Town on Saturday in the first round of the FA Cup after beating AFC Totton in the last qualifying round.
"They're used to losing so if we can go out there and get our noses in front you never know what might happen, said Hogg.
"We'll be hard to beat if we show what we can do and we might have a shock.
"There's a lot of experienced guys in the team and it's going to mean different things for different people.
"But it's certainly going to be a big day for everybody."
