Kidderminster 3-1 Oxford Utd

Highlights - Kidderminster 3-1 Oxford

A brace from striker Robbie Matthews gave Kidderminster a shock win over Blue Square Premier leaders Oxford.

The hosts led early on when Matthews fired home from the edge of the box and made it 2-0 when Matthew Barnes-Homer fired in from 25 yards.

James Constable gave Oxford hope from the spot but Matthews sealed the win from close range.

Matthews also had a penalty saved by Ryan Clarke after Oxford defender Steven Kinniburgh was sent off.

Oxford, who led the table by eight points at kick-off, looked nothing like the side that had only lost three league games in 2009 and had put League One Yeovil out of the FA Cup a week earlier.

Harriers, in contrast, had not won in three games, having lost to Blue Square North side Fleetwood in their last outing.

The hosts got off to the best possible start when the ball struck Luke Foster's hand on the ground and landed to Matthews, who fired into the bottom right-hand corner.

And they doubled their lead when Daryl Knights laid off a free-kick to Barnes-Homer, who rifled home past Clarke.

And minutes later United were back in the game when Sam Deering, in his first start since breaking his leg on Boxing Day, was fouled by Dean Coleman and Constable sent the keeper the wrong way.

Kidderminster took a stranglehold on the game early in the second half, Barnes-Homer's left-wing cross finding Matthews unmarked eight yards out and he could not miss.

And the former Salisbury striker should have had his hat-trick when Kinniburgh was dismissed for a professional foul on Barnes-Homer.

But Clarke guessed right, diving to his right to keep out Matthews' penalty before producing an even better follow-up save to keep out Brian Smikle.
