Blue Square Premier strugglers Grays and Gateshead played out a goalless draw that did little to ease either club's relegation concerns.
Daniel Charges had an early effort saved as Grays started positively.
At the other end Gateshead's Michael Mackay saw his close-range shot blocked while Graeme Armstrong's strike hit the upright just before half-time.
Richard Graham shot wide for the home side from 12 yards and Gateshead's Armstrong went close with a header.
Grays manager Julian Dicks told BBC Essex:

"Today was a great game for us to get a result and get back-to-back wins.
"But they looked tired, they looked lacklustre - don't know why because they haven't worked hard in training.
"But I've let them know what I thought of them after the game."
