Stevenage were rarely troubled as they breezed past Eastbourne on Tuesday.
The hosts were excellent throughout and came away with the points thanks to goals from Jon Ashton and Ronnie Henry.
Ashton opened the scoring with his first Diamonds goal - a header from Joel Byrom's cross after Byrom, Michael Bostwick and Lee Boylan had chances.
Henry then got on the end of Cole's precise cross to break Michael Jordan's resolve before Boylan, who deserved a goal for his efforts, hit the post.
Stevenage manager Graham Westley told BBC Three Counties Radio:
"I think you can see that the side is starting to evolve. It was a comfortable, professional performance without being exhilarating and with a little bit more clinical [finishing] it could have been much more convincing than the two.
"I lost count of the corners we had, we almost ran out of our repertoire. We must have had seven or eight before we scored, but it is nice when a set-piece comes to fruition."
