Green has scored three goals in six games following his return to Oxford
Managerless Forest Green picked up a shock first point of the season away to unbeaten league leaders Oxford.
United were below-par, and Matt Green missed three great chances, including an early sitter from five yards which he fired over the bar.
Forest Green had chances and Sean Rigg forced a great save from Ryan Clarke.
The visitors almost snatched it towards the end, but Clarke was equal to Paul Stonehouse's shot after the striker beat defender Luke Foster to the ball.
Oxford boss Chris Wilder told BBC Oxford:
"Credit to the opposition but we were pretty poor. No-one came out of it with any plus points except [debutant] Steven Kinniburgh, who was our best player by miles, and maybe Ryan Clarke.
"There were nine very average at best performances.
"It was a fantastic effort by the supporters - the players didn't give them much to cheer about.
"There is a little chance [of signing a player before Tuesday's deadline] - we're working on something."
