Holroyd has netted seven goals this season

A Chris Holroyd brace helped Cambridge to ease past 10-man Gateshead.

Holroyd could have opened the scoring within two minutes but shot straight at goalkeeper Jim Provett.

Provett did well to save from Danny Crow and Andy Parkinson but was finally beaten when Holroyd was put through by Anthony Tonkin.

Parkinson turned in Crow's cross to make it 2-0 before Stephane Pelonde was shown a second yellow and Holroyd netted a penalty after a handball.
