Danny Wright's brace and a Bradley Hudson-Odoi strike gave Histon a comfortable win over Blue Square Premier new-boys Gateshead.
Wright's close-range effort put the visitors ahead just before half-time.
Hudson-Odoi doubled their lead late on after latching onto Gareth Gwillim's ball to fire home and Wright sealed the win by firing high into the net.
The hosts' best period was early in the second half and Kris Gate smashed the post with a 20-yard effort.
