Hargreaves' goal leaves Torquay in the play-off places
Chris Hargreaves scored a crucial equaliser as Torquay boosted their play-off bid and prevented Barrow from guaranteeing their survival.
The veteran midfielder finished well from Danny Stevens' cross early in the second half after hesitancy in the Bluebirds penalty area.
The hosts led for most of the first half after Jason Walker converted Brendan McGill's cross inside the area.
Barrow had chances to increase their lead but ended up happy with the point.
The Bluebirds could have led 2-0 or 3-0 as Blair Sturrock blazed his left-footed effort over the top from inside the six-yard box and Brendan McGill forced a good save from Gulls keeper Scott Bevan.
Torquay were forced to change their keeper just before the hour-mark when Bevan was forced off, but fortunately they had Michael Poke on the bench.
