Craig Nelthorpe scored one and made another as Oxford emerged on top in a fiery encounter which saw each side have a player dismissed.

Nelthorpe's fine 20-yard free-kick put Oxford ahead, then Chris Wilmott headed in Nelthorpe's corner to make it 2-0.

Kettering's comeback hopes were hit as Craig Westcarr was dismissed following an off-the-ball clash with Luke Foster.

But Jean-Paul Marna's low half-volley made it 2-1 before Oxford's Kevin Sandwith saw red for a second booking.
