A double from Chris Holroyd helped Cambridge United extend their unbeaten league run to 11 games at relegation-threatened Barrow.
The away side could not find a way past goalkeeper Tim Deasy in the first half.
Courtney Pitt saw a close-range header saved and Deasy was also on hand to keep out a header from Anthony Tonkin.
Barrow held out until the 62nd minute when Holroyd netted from six yards, the striker securing the points with a left-footed finish from 12 yards.
