Nathan Crabb's strike 12 minutes from time gave south-coast side Eastbourne victory over Kettering.
Crabb was fed in by his brother Matt before curling in from 12 yards for the only goal of the game.
Kettering dominated the match with Gareth Seddon, Luke Potter, Exodus Geohaghan and Richard Graham all going close to giving the side the lead.
And in the dying moments, Brett Solkhon should have equalised but his right-foot volley was saved by Lee Hook.
Kettering: Harper, Bennett, Dempster, Geohaghan, Luke Potter, Richard Graham (Lorougnon 54), Solkhon, Boucaud, Westcarr, Beardsley (Alfie Potter 72), Seddon (Jason Lee 79).
