Kettering extended their unbeaten run to six games with a win over promotion-chasing Histon despite playing the last third of the game with 10 men.
The Poppies dominated the first half and broke the deadlock just after the break when Gareth Seddon's overhead kick from six yards flew in.
Guy Branston saw red for serious foul play as Histon pushed for a leveller.
Antonio Murray had a 25-yard effort well blocked by Luke Potter and a later volley was saved by keeper Lee Harper.
