Southport manager Liam Watson is demanding an improved performance in Tuesday night's FA Trophy quarter-final against Telford United at Haig Avenue.
The Sandgrounders got away with forcing a replay on Saturday only thanks to a deflected, late equaliser in a 2-2 draw at the Bucks Head.
And Watson told BBC Radio Merseyside: "If they don't improve they'll regret it for the rest of their lives.
"I remember going out in an FA Trophy quarter in 1992. It still haunts me."
Watson was damning of his side's performance in Shropshire on Saturday, which he described as 'gutless and spineless'.
He believes his side can perform much better and can earn a potential semi-final with York City.
But he is under no illusions as to the difficulty his side face in this battle of two Blue Square North promotion rivals.
"I've said all along that Telford are the biggest threat to us," said Watson. "Taking ourselves out of the equation, I think they're the best team in the League."
