Dereham Town were dumped out of the FA Vase at Needham Market by a 2-1 defeat to their Suffolk rivals.
The home side took the lead in the first half, Dereham's Graham Barrett equalised but Needham Market's winner made the most of terrible conditions.
Dereham boss Matt Henman told BBC Radio Norfolk: "We talked to the ref before the game, we expressed concern as soon as the match started.
"For it to be decided when the ball got stuck in the mud sums the day up."
