Mansfield and Kettering both failed to enhance their Blue Square Premier play-off credentials after a lively goalless draw at Field Mill.

The home side should have taken a second-minute lead but Matthew Somner's header was saved by keeper Lee Harper.

Kettering also hit the post through Andre Boucaud's 30-yard effort.

Mansfield's Dale Bennett came close when his free-kick hit the crossbar and the Stags also had strong claims for a penalty turned down in injury-time.
