Steve Daly scored twice as last year's FA Trophy finalists Torquay were knocked out of this season's competition by Southport.

The Blue Square North side stunned the Gulls when Daly struck in the 13th minute to open the scoring.

Then with 15 minutes to go, Daly latched onto a long ball to advance and beat Scott Bevan in the Torquay goal.

Bevan then misjudged a high, looping ball from Kevin Lee in the wind to settle the third round tie.
