Own goal ends Boston FA Cup run

Ollie Ryan
Ryan's goal took his tally to 12 goals for the season

Matt Bloomer's 83rd-minute own goal saw Boston United lose 3-2 to Cambridge United in Saturday's FA Cup fourth qualifying round match at York Street.

Danny Crow gave Cambridge an eighth-minute lead, with Kieron Leabon equalising in the 28th minute.

Robbie Willmott's deflected shot three minutes after the break restored the visitors' advantage, only for Ollie Ryan to level eight minutes later.

With a replay looming, Bloomer headed a Willmott cross into his own net.

Boston manager Tommy Taylor told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "I thought it was a bit harsh but if you're defending inside your own six-yard box when the crosses come in, sometimes you get punished."

Leabon admitted: "We feel a bit hard done by because we'd done so well to stay in the game."

In the Unibond first division south Grantham Town made it three wins out of three under manager Phil Starbuck.

First-half goals from Danny Hargreaves and Jason Turner gave them a 2-0 victory over Leek Town at the Meres.

Stamford and Lincoln United shared a 1-1 draw with United's Brendan McDaid cancelling out Tyrone Kirk's opener for the Daniels, while Spalding United went down 5-0 at Gresley Rovers.
