Wrexham saw off Blue Square Premier bottom club Lewes thanks to goals from both central defenders.
Ashley Westwood put the Dragons ahead on 18 minutes when he glanced Wes Baynes' corner into the far corner.
Lewes were denied an equaliser when Steve Elliott was ruled marginally offside, but the visitors then had Joe Tabiri sent off for a second yellow.
Mike Williams made the points safe for Wrexham as Lewes failed to defend another Baynes corner.
Wrexham manager Dean Saunders: "We fought really well. We scored two goals from corners that we'd worked on which was really pleasing but we could have scored seven or eight.
"If there was anything to be disappointed about, it was that we weren't ruthless enough.
"I'm just really pleased that we've come back (from losing to Eastwood)."
