Jack Midson's second-half winner ensured Histon strengthened their promotion challenge at Altrincham.

There were few clear chances until Midson struck on 72 minutes, with both sides reduced to long-range efforts.

Altrincham had to replace goalkeeper Stuart Coburn with Andrew Ralph at half-time and he did well to keep out Josh Simpson's effort.

But Histon finally made their dominance pay with 18 minutes left when Midson slotted in from close range.
