Second-half goals from Brian Smikle and Justin Richards enabled Kidderminster to claim a deserved home win over York and help move the Harriers up to third.
Peter Holmes and Simon Rusk went close for the visitors in the first-half as did Onome Sodje after the break.
But the hosts took the lead just after the hour mark as Smikle steered a downward six-yard header past Michale Ingham from Martin Brittain's cross.
Richards completed the scoring with virtually the last kick of the game.
York City boss Colin Walker told BBC Radio York:
I think we've actually played worse than that and won games this year.
I can't really have a go at them [the players], I thought all the endeavour was there, we've just got to be a little better in that final third.
