A second-half header from Nathan Crabb earned Eastbourne three points courtesy of a home victory against Forest Green.
Neither side created any clear-cut chances in a dull first half.
But the breakthrough came on 64 minutes when Neil Jenkins's crossed from the left was headed past Rovers goalkeeper Ryan Robinson by Crabb.
But the visitors refused to surrender and came very close to an equaliser when Kaid Mohamed's shot rebounded off the woodwork on 94 minutes.
