Onome Sodje's late equaliser rescued a point for unbeaten York at Torquay.
Sodje came off the bench to volley home a stunning first-time shot from Richard Brodie's smart flick on with three minutes left on the clock.
Chances were at a premium before Danny Stevens put Torquay ahead with a half-volley following a scramble in the box.
Mark Greaves went desperately close for York when Simon Russell's cross was missed by Gulls goalkeeper Michael Poke, before Sodje's moment of quality.
