Boss Colin Walker saw his changes pay off as York salvaged a point from a draw with Histon at KitKat Crescent.
Daniel Wright struck Histon ahead from the penalty spot after York defender Ben Purkiss was penalised for handball.
Histon had to cope with the loss of central defender Erkan Okey, who was replaced by Jamie Barker.
York boss Walker made several attacking changes and they paid dividends as Daniel McBreen levelled with a left-footed shot from 17 yards.
