Nuneaton Borough have been dealt a double punishment by the Football Association for going into liquidation.
The club have been relegated twice to the Southern League Midland Division and have also been forced to change their name to Nuneaton Town.
Chairman Ian Neale told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire: "Promotion is essential for the club next year.
"We're going to build a structure that's going to support the club with the community going forward."
Nuneaton have been forced to change their name because as they are now under new ownership they cannot be docked points and cannot be relegated any further down the football pyramid.
The FA gave the club the ultimatum of changing their name or being refused affiliation to the Southern League.
Nuneaton Town was chosen at an emergency meeting of the directors and fans' committee on Tuesday.
It takes the club back to its original moniker that it was known by up until 1937 when it was changed to Nuneaton Borough.
