AFC Telford United manager Rob Smith said the entire club should be proud after the Bucks secured a play-off place in the Blue Square North.

Telford beat Stalybridge Celtic 2-1 on Saturday with goals from Jamie Vermiglio and defender Asa Charlton.

Rob Smith told BBC Radio Shropshire: "It's a proud moment, now I want to finish second.

"I've been saying all along that I thought we would do it and now we have, I can't praise the lads enough."

"I have to say I rather not have Barrow, I think they're the form side going into it," Smith added.

Midfielder Jamie Vermiglio scored the equaliser on his comeback with a volley on the edge of the penalty area.

Vermiglio had his first start since February after injuring his foot and the midfielder said he was delighted with how things went.

"It was a case of easing myself back into it, but I enjoyed it and capped it off with the goal and I was pleased to get 70 minutes under my belt."

Telford are second in the Blue Square North with one game left to play against Burscough.
