Cornish sides continue SWPL push

Non-League

Bodmin Town came from a goal down to beat Newton Abbot Spurs 2-1 on Saturday and stay four points clear at the top of the South West Peninsula League.

Geoff Breslan's free kick gave Spurs the lead before Danny O'Hagan equalised for Town and Paul Baker sealed the win with an 87th minute penalty.

Saltash United stay second after beating fifth-placed Dartmouth 3-1.

Gavin Coulton gave the Ashes the lead after 10 minutes with Danny Lewis and Glen Palmer getting the other goals.

The two sides face each other at Bodmin on Wednesday night. A home win would see Bodmin needing just one more win from their final three games to secure the title.

Elsewhere Falmouth Town stay fourth after a 0-0 draw at home to Witheridge while sixth-placed Torpoint Athletic beat mid-table St Blazey 2-1.

Launceston moved into seventh place with a 2-1 win at fifth-from-bottom Buckland Athletic while Tavistock downed bottom-of-the-table Cullompton Rangers 5-1 and Liskeard Athletic drew 0-0 with Elburton Villa.
