Linnets stay on course for title

Non-League

Joe Francis scored twice as King's Lynn beat Brackley Town 2-1 at The Walks to stay in the Southern League title race.

The pacy Linnets forward took his tally to 22 for the season with two goals in four first-half minutes.

Brackley had a man sent off in the second half but scored a late goal to make it a nervous finish for Lynn fans.

Lynn are just a point behind Southern League leaders Team Bath with a game in hand which they play on Tuesday against fifth-placed Bashley.

King's Lynn assistant manager Lee Glover said he was pleased with his team's performance despite the rather nervous end to the game.

"Overall I'm delighted with the result, we got three more points which has moved us closer to where we want to be, we'll move on now to the game with Bashley," he told BBC Radio Norfolk.

"We can't criticise the lads for conceding a goal in the second half and not playing so well, because they've had a long season and they've come up with the goods, we can't knock them."
