Blue Square North side Southport have announced that manager Peter Davenport and assistant Huw Griffiths have left the club with immediate effect.

Former Southport midfielder Gary Brabin will take charge until the end of the current season.

"I understand what the challenges are and the aim is to get into the play-offs and hopefully get promotion," the 37-year-old told the club website.

Southport lost 4-1 to Solihull Moors on Saturday and are sixth in the table.
