Rovers had the better of the first half with Stuart Fleetwood, Ismael Welsh and Adriano Rigoglioso all threatening.

The visitors came out with greater purpose after the break and took the lead minutes when Andrew Burgess scored in the top right-hand corner.

Forest Green keeper Terry Burton produced a fine save from substitute Jon Challinor in stoppage time.
