Play-off hopefuls Cambridge ended their four-match winless streak by beating struggling Droylsden.

The U's took the lead when Wayne Hatswell set up Ben Farrell to score from Courtney Pitt's corner, and Mark Beesley made it 2-0 from 20 yards.

Pitt missed a chance to add a third when he blazed his penalty over after Levi Mackin felled Robert Wolleaston.

Droylsden's best chance came when Jamie McGuire's cross was headed over his own crossbar by Wolleaston.
