Kirkham continue push for Wembley
Mick Fuller
Fuller's side are the only remaining step six side left in the FA Vase
Kirkham & Wesham take centre stage this weekend with their FA Vase semi-final, first-leg tie against Needham Market at Kellamergh Park.

Kirkham booked their place in the final of the Division Two Trophy in midweek, beating Ashton Athletic 2-1.

The win was soured by injuries to strikers Mark Wane and Mick Horsfall and both will face fitness checks before the game.

The match will be featured on BBC Radio Lancashire on Saturday.

Suffolk-based Needham Market, who are second in the Ridgeons League Premier Division, come into the game on the back of a dip in form.

Having lost just two league games all season before last weekend, a 5-2 home reverse was followed by another home defeat in midweek.

However, a side that has scored 85 league goals in 31 games will not be under-estimated by manager Mick Fuller and his squad, and with another record crowd set to pack into Kellamergh Park, the scene is set for a fascinating contest.

In the Vodkat League Division One, Bacup Borough and Nelson continue their search for points in their respective relegation battles.

Bacup's excellent 3-1 victory against Squires Gate in midweek was their first home league win all season, and they will be hoping to continue that run of form when Runcorn Linnets visit the Brian Boys Stadium.

Nelson remain rooted to the bottom-of-the-table, and boss Nick Jackson-Cooney will be hoping to steer his side to their first win since he took charge when the Blues entertain Congleton Town at Victoria Park.

Colne host an attractive game at the Holt House Stadium, with league leaders Trafford the visitors.

Colne go into the game on the back of a run that has seen them lose just once in ten league games, although Trafford are unbeaten away from home in the league.

Squires Gate's form has been mixed of late, with three wins and three defeats in their past six games, and they face a difficult game when fifth placed Flixton visit School Road.

The omens are good for Ramsbottom United as they prepare to face Atherton LR at the Riverside.

In the corresponding fixture last season, the Rams won 9-1, their second highest ever league win, and they will fancy their chances of collecting all three points against an LR side that has won just twice on the road all season.

In Division Two, new Darwen player-manager Dennis Hill takes his side to face Ashton Town, looking to build on the performance that produced a 3-3 draw at Cheadle last weekend.

Both Padiham and Blackpool Mechanics have no fixture this weekend.
