Kidderminster Harriers bounced back from successive away defeats to leapfrog Rushden in the table.
Iyseden Christie scored his fourth goal in his last five outings on 15 minutes, steering Simon Russell's right-wing cross into the bottom corner.
Five minutes after the break, Mark Creighton made it 2-0 when he headed Jeff Kenna's cross into the top corner.
Rushden were second best throughout, with Tom Shaw's shot straight at Chris MacKenzie among their best efforts.
Harriers manager Mark Yates felt the 2-0 home win was one of his team's best showings for some time - and underlined just why he had kept faith in the squad.
"We're not as bad as our league position makes out," he told BBC Hereford & Worcester. "It was a pleasing display.
"We've now got a trip to Crawley on Thursday and we've got to make sure we come away with at least a point."
The victory lifted Harriers back above Rushden in the Blue Square Premier table to 14th.
