Second-half goals from Tim Sills and Roscoe D'Sane handed Torquay victory against struggling Stafford.
Sills twice forced goalkeeper Danny Alcock into smart saves inside the first 22 minutes.
He then opened the scoring when he converted Kevin Nicholson's corner after 48 minutes to register his 15th goal of the season.
D'Sane doubled the lead by volleying home from 12 yards to give the Gulls their first win in four games.
