Coventry Sphinx's dreams of playing at Wembley are over after they were beaten 1-0 by Kirkham & Wesham in Saturday's FA Vase clash. Despite home advantage in the sixth-round replay, Sphinx were undone by Sean Patterson's second-half strike.
The Midland Alliance outfit were left confounded when referee Olly Langford subsequently turned down two strong penalty appeals.
The teams had drawn 3-3 after extra time the previous week.
