York maintained their outside hopes of a Blue Square Premier play-off place with a hard-fought victory over fellow promotion chasers Exeter. Martyn Woolford opened the scoring for the hosts with a drilled effort before Daniel Parslow headed home Woolford's corner to double the advantage. Steve Basham gave the away side a lifeline from close range but Onome Sodje hit back with a neat finish. Richard Logan's looping header set up a tense finale, but the hosts held firm.
