AFC Telford United are preparing to sign former Wigan trainee Dave Roberts on loan from Burscough until the end of the season. Roberts, 19, has played in defence for Burscough this season, but Bucks boss Rob Smith told BBC Radio Shropshire he can also play in midfield.
Smith said: "He's hot property and he's going to be a great player.
"Dave is a tough defender and I rate him highly. He was man of the match in Burscough's game against Nuneaton."
Smith said the paper work should be completed in time for Roberts, who joined Burscough in 2006, to make his Telford debut against Hyde United at the New Bucks Head on Saturday.
