The Grecians took the lead in the 22nd minute when Dean Moxey crossed from the left to find Wayne Carlisle, who sent his effort high into the top corner.

Adam Stansfield doubled the lead seven minutes later when he placed a low effort into the centre of the goal.

Grays battled hard but failed to trouble Exeter keeper Andy Marriott.
