Burton lifted their promotion hopes with victory over Rushden. They broke the deadlock after 11 minutes when Daryl Clare scored his 11th league goal of the season, firing past Dale Roberts from 18 yards.
Rushden levelled when Andrew Burgess drilled a left-footed effort past Kevin Poole just before the break.
Nigel Clough's in-form side got the winner with 13 minutes left when Marc Goodfellow managed to find the net from the edge of the box.
